Set in central Texas in the 1970s, the dramatic story unfolds against a backdrop of clashing cultures as Austin evolves from a conservative Texas city into a politically progressive and racially diverse cultural oasis.
When a television producer named Derrick Caldwell and his wife Carla first stumble upon Willy Briggs, preaching in an abandoned beer hall in a small Texas town, they immediately spot his potential. As a team, they coach and develop Willy into one of the most-watched, financially successful televangelists in the world.
